PLOT SUMMARY:
Based on a true story…
Born with cerebral palsy, but blessed with a genius for coaching football, Doug Blevins has always dreamed big. Now, the down and out, former NFL kicking coach is struggling to get his life back on track. His wife has filed for divorce, he can barely keep the power on in his trailer, and he’s been cut off, passed over, and ignored by just about everyone in his profession. When a call from his agent douses his hopes of a comeback, Doug seeks out his former protégé, veteran kicker Blaine Butler, himself a recent castoff from the NFL. If Doug can coach Blaine back from the dead, maybe he can find his way back too.
But Doug’s family life threatens to wreck his plans. His son, Roman, a senior on the high school football team, begins slipping off the tracks just as the team gets on a roll. Camilla, Doug’s soon-to-be ex-wife, announces she’s moving away with her new boyfriend and demands Doug step up as a father and take a stable job. As Roman’s team heads into the playoffs, and the pressure mounts at home, Doug finally gets the opportunity he’s been waiting for. Faced with a crossroads, Doug’s forced to weigh the responsibilities of fatherhood against his own ambition.
